My name is Eleanor Cain and I hail from St. George, Utah. The desert is my home, and you can most often find me hiking, traveling, journaling, or running. I’m a senior at Brigham Young University studying News Media and double-minoring in International Development and Spanish.
I chose News Media because I’m passionate about seeing the world and putting it down in words. Ever since I was a young girl I’ve been journaling – trying to capture the awe, wonder, pain, sadness, and excitement of life. While living in Guatemala and Spain, I learned that the world is so much more beautiful and complex than I had ever imagined, and that I wanted to use my skills to give voice to those who might otherwise stay silent.
And so, writing, journalism, and fighting social issues are deeply rooted in my purpose. I hope to use journalism as a means to educate and inspire change by opening minds and hearts.
I love telling people’s stories, and I hope you’ll enjoy as I tell a little bit of mine.
